Mt Hutt is hiring for a Slope Safety Crew member for the 2026 winter season. The role centers on educating guests on the snow code in the base area, learner zones and slow zones, using your strong skiing or snowboarding skills to guide safe riding and to assist with general guest inquiries and indoor duties such as ticketing and rentals when needed, while promptly referring safety concerns to the Ski Patrol. The ideal candidate is a confident skier or rider who loves teaching others, thrives outdoors in alpine weather, stays calm under pressure, is physically fit, and a true team player capable of cross training across departments. As part of the Slope Safety Crew at Mt Hutt, your main responsibility will be educating guests on the snow code to ensure they ski and ride safely in key areas of the mountain. This includes the base area, learner zones, and slow zones. You will use your strong skiing or snowboarding skills to interact with guests, provide guidance on safe practices, and assist them when needed. You will also support indoor duties, such as ticketing and guest inquiries, as required.
Key Responsibilities
• Educate guests on the snow code and responsible behaviour on the slopes, focusing on the base area, learner zones, and slow zones
• Provide clear guidance to guests to help them ski and ride safely
• Assist guests with general inquiries and direct them to the appropriate resources if they have safety concerns or need help
• Refer safety concerns or incidents to the Ski Patrol team for proper handling
• Occasionally assist with checking lift passes outdoors and help guests at the lift stations
• Support indoor guest services duties, such as processing lift pass sales, rentals, and handling guest inquiries
• Report safety concerns or incidents promptly to the Ski Patrol team
About You
• Strong skiing or snowboarding ability (required for the role)
• Passion for educating guests on the snow code and ensuring a safe environment
• Previous experience in a snow sports or safety role is advantageous
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying alpine weather conditions
• Positive, approachable attitude with excellent communication skills
• Able to handle incidents calmly and efficiently on the slopes
• Flexible to assist with indoor duties, such as ticketing, rentals, and responding to guest inquiries
• Physically fit and capable of working in demanding outdoor conditions
• Team player with the ability to adapt to different tasks and roles

• A commitment to delivering excellent guest service and a passion for the snow sports industry
• Flexibility to assist with other departments such as Rentals, Food & Beverage, and Lifts as needed
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and assist in other areas when required
• Physically fit and ready to spend time on your feet, both outdoors and indoors
• Strong team player who communicates effectively and approaches all tasks with a positive attitude
