Head of Customer Development Netherlands

We’re looking for a Head of Customer Development for our successful subsidiary located in Amsterdam (Weesp), the Netherlands.

As a member of the Colgate-Palmolive Benelux Leadership Team, and reporting to the VP & GM Benelux, the focus of the Head of Customer Development NL is to build strong partnerships with retailers in the Netherlands to ensure mutually profitable business. In this role, the Head of Customer Development is responsible for delivering market shares, sales and margin, and will lead a high-performing team of approximately 8 FTE.

 

What you’ll do:

Key customers include: AS Watson, Ahold, Superunie, Jumbo and others.

 

External

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of customer strategies, their shoppers, and how Colgate-Palmolive can optimize its brands and strategy within this environment.
  • Demonstrate strong commercial drive to identify issues and opportunities for optimization and target achievement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with trade partners in the Netherlands.
  • Lead and successfully conclude high-stakes yearly negotiations with key retailers.

 

Internal

  • Develop tailored commercial plans and implement them via Joint Business Planning.
  • Lead and work closely and creatively with a cross-functional commercial team (e.g. finance, consumer engagement, category management and logistics) to identify, develop and implement the appropriate business solutions required to drive the business forward.
  • Lead a team of 7 to 8 direct and indirect reports (t.b.d.).

 

Who you are: 

  • 10+ years of experience in account management within an FMCG company.
  • An optimistic, proactive mindset.
  • A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong analytical skills; accurate, curious and pragmatic.
  • Hands-on, “can do” approach, with a willingness to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the FMCG industry and Dutch retail.
  • Passion for brands and shopper behavior.
  • A true team player who easily builds relationships with customers and colleagues in other functions, with a winner’s mentality focused on delivering results.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English.
