UK Atomic Energy Authority is recruiting a Health Physics Technician for a full time onsite role in Culham. You will deliver radiological protection and occupational hygiene services across licensed and non-licensed facilities, advise engineers, supervise high risk activities to keep exposures ALARP, respond to incidents, and manage radioactive and beryllium contaminated waste, while monitoring environmental discharges and maintaining records. The role demands IRR17 expertise, a formal radiation safety qualification, practical radiological protection and hygiene experience, and the ability to work independently. In your application, illustrate hands on monitoring, waste handling, regulatory compliance, and clear technical reporting; demonstrate decisive problem solving, strong communication, and IT skills. As a Health Physics Technician, you will play a key role in protecting people, facilities and the environment by delivering specialist radiological protection and occupational hygiene services across UKAEA's licensed and non-licensed facilities. Working as part of the Health Physics Group, you will provide independent advice, monitoring and operational support to ensure compliance with the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17) and other relevant legislation.
This is a hands-on operational role offering significant responsibility and autonomy. You'll work closely with engineers, technicians and project teams to manage radiological and beryllium-related hazards, support high-risk activities, respond to incidents and help maintain the highest standards of safety across the organisation.
