Day in the Life

As a Winter Foreperson, you will be responsible for coordinating the safe and efficient operation of winter maintenance equipment, including loaders, combination units, and pickup trucks, to maintain provincial highways in accordance with CDMC contract requirements. A key part of the role is organizing and contacting operators to ensure timely response for winter plowing and salting operations.

Strong organizational skills are essential as you maintain accurate documentation, including project plans, operational records, daily equipment inspections, work records, and hours-of-service logs.

Effective communication will be critical as you work closely with supervisors, lead hands, operators, and other stakeholders to support project progress and address issues as they arise. Using your critical thinking and problem-solving skills, you will identify challenges and implement effective solutions to keep operations running smoothly. Attention to detail is equally important, as you will conduct regular inspections and implement quality control measures to ensure compliance with contract specifications and operational standards.
