Fulton Hogan is seeking a Network Inspector for the IDC contract with NZTA across Manawatū and Whanganui regions, onsite in Palmerston North. You will perform visual inspections, log defects, and update the AWM system to ensure data integrity, prioritise safety hazards, and provide evidence to inform decisions. You’ll support planning, coordinate resources, and engage with NZTA and stakeholders through workshops and meetings. Essential criteria include at least 5 years in road maintenance, strong contract know-how, experience using Work Manager and Mobile AWM, a BE or NZCE or equivalent, and a current class 1 licence. We are looking for a Network Inspector to join our team for our newly secured IDC contract with NZTA across the Manawatū and Whanganui regions. In this role, you will carry out thorough visual inspections of the network in line with set schedules, identifying both routine and ordered work and updating the Principal's AWM system to ensure data integrity. You'll be responsible for assessing asset conditions, providing evidence to inform decision making, sizing and logging necessary maintenance, and prioritising safety hazards and faults as per specification. The Inspector will record and address faults to support asset preservation and customer satisfaction, conduct day and night inspections, and attend alignment workshops.
In addition to the above you will:
Conduct visual inspections across the network as scheduled, identifying defects, routine and ordered work, and updating the Principal’s AWM system for data accuracy
Log faults and assess their severity, ensuring maintenance needs and safety hazards are correctly prioritised and recorded as per guidelines
Provide clear evidence for decision making, size and scope required work, and oversee the quality of operational teams’ output
Ensure contractual procedures are followed for changes in scope, support report preparation, and assist with planning, organising, and coordinating resources
Maintain positive relationships with NZTA and stakeholders, attend workshops, contribute to meeting KPIs, and assist with miscellaneous duties as required

We’re looking for someone with:
Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience, with proven ability to assess road conditions, identify hazards, and make sound judgements on urgency and required actions
Strong background in road maintenance contracts and comprehensive knowledge of all asset types and activities managed within such contracts
Practical experience using Work Manager and Mobile AWM systems in the field, with a thorough understanding of AWM processes
Hold a BE, NZCE, relevant diploma, or significant industry experience, with ability or training to undertake all required inspections
Sound knowledge of departmental processes and requirements for road network maintenance
Experience providing evidence for decision making, maintaining accurate records, and managing multiple inspection tasks efficiently
Current class 1 driver's licence
