Adyen, the payments and data platform trusted by names like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft, is hiring an Infrastructure Developer (Go) for its Amsterdam team. This full-time, on-site role sits in a company that delivers a single solution for payments, data and financial products, and it’s looking for someone who wants to own meaningful work and grow in a technically demanding environment. The role is based in Amsterdam and requires working in the office to collaborate in person with the team.

You’ll join a group of seasoned system and software engineers who design, implement, maintain and automate core infrastructure services such as load balancers, DNS and proxies, aligning decisions with the company’s broader objectives. A key focus is reducing engineering toil through automation, boosting reliability, and delivering services that scale. The Control Plane project sits at the heart of this work, offering parts of the infrastructure as a service to other teams within the company.

This position is well suited for someone who enjoys solving big-scale infrastructure challenges, collaborating across product, software and site reliability groups, and shaping how infrastructure supports the business. If you’re looking to influence platform direction while solving real-world operational problems, this could be a strong fit.

Keeping the backbone of Adyen's platform humming

In practice, you’ll help design, implement and maintain the tools that automate the self-service platform, turning manual tasks into smooth, one-click operations. You’ll work on delivering load-balancing infrastructure as a service that stays highly available and responsive, even during traffic surges, so internal teams can rely on the platform under pressure.

You’ll collaborate closely with product managers and other developers to translate upcoming features into secure, scalable infrastructure solutions. The role involves cross‑functional work with SREs and other platform engineering groups, and you’ll contribute to architectural discussions to steer decisions that support long-term goals. Expect to drive improvements across the Adyen Platform by bringing thoughtful engineering and a pragmatic approach to change.

What you’ll bring to the table

Here’s what the team is looking for, with the must-haves and the nice-to-haves laid out below.

  • Six or more years working in related roles
  • Strong Go programming skills with practical Python exposure
  • Background in platform or infrastructure teams
  • Solid Linux proficiency
  • Good grasp of distributed systems
  • Proven track record of delivering and driving complex projects
  • Clear communication and a forward-thinking mindset
  • Experience with automation and configuration tools such as Puppet, Ansible or Terraform
  • Some React or Node.js experience
  • Hands-on experience with open-source load balancers like HAProxy

Advice for applicants

Lead with your most relevant experience. Put six+ years of related work and your Go expertise at the top of your resume, followed by Python skills and Linux proficiency, so the panel sees you match the must-haves right away.

Show concrete projects that prove you can deliver. Describe specific initiatives where you built or improved a self-service platform, automated repetitive tasks, and used Docker and Kubernetes to support distributed systems at scale.

Be ready to walk through architecture decisions and the impact on reliability during traffic spikes. Have a real example where your design choices reduced toil or improved service resilience, and explain how you collaborated with SRE or platform teams to execute it.

Ask thoughtful questions about the Control Plane project and how success is measured. A good one is to inquire how the team quantifies reliability improvements and operational toil reductions after implementing new infrastructure services.
