WSP Australia is seeking an ITS Technician or Senior ITS Technician to join our Brisbane, Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast offices on a full time onsite basis. You will prepare, manage and issue drawings for major infrastructure projects in Queensland and nationally, creating electrical, communication and civil designs to state and Australian Standards, applying drafting standards to ensure accuracy and consistency, and liaising with technicians, designers and project engineers to ensure timely delivery. You’ll plan and manage your own work, champion quality assurance and design verification, and pursue improvements through new tools and best practices using AutoCAD, PowerCAD, 12D, AGI32, Perfect Lite and more. Requirements: at least 2 years’ ITS, signals or lighting experience, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical, Civil or Structural Engineering, ability to compile complex drawings, and proficiency in AutoCAD, AGI32 and PowerCAD; familiarity with Australian Road Authority standards is desirable. What you’ll do: 

  • Prepare, manage and issue drawings for major infrastructure projects in Queensland and nationally
  • Create drawings for electrical, communication and civil designs to the relevant state and Australian Standards. 
  • Apply established drafting and design standards to ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance across project deliverables. 
  • Liaise with other technicians, designers and project team engineers to ensure the timely delivery of project drawings. 
  • Plan and manage own work to meet deadlines and budgets. 
  • Champion quality assurance, design verification, and technical excellence. 
  • Actively pursue improvement opportunities through optimisation of existing tools, adoption of new tools and integration of best practice procedures. 
  • Use of computer aided design tools such as AutoCAD, PowerCAD, 12D, AGI32, perfect lite and others. 

This role can be based in WSP in Australia's Brisbane, Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast offices. 

About You 

You have a demonstrated background in major transport projects with experience working on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), signals, enforcement and/or lighting drawings. You enjoy engaging with internal and external stakeholders to drive strategic project outcomes an influence how our cities move. 

 In addition, you will bring the following skills and attributes: 

  • At least 2 years’ experience in ITS, signals, lighting, or transport major projects. 
  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma or Equivalent in Electrical, Civil and Structural Engineering.  
  • Ability to compile drawings required for a set of complex project drawings. 
  • Proven experience in engineering design and consulting services. 
  • Expertise in AutoCAD, AGI32, PowerCAD, and other design tools. 
  • Experience working with Australian Road Authority design and drafting standards desirable – examples include Department of Transport and Main Roads Queensland, Main Roads Western Australia, Department of Transport and Planning Victoria. 
  • Ability to work well with others and be open minded to new ideas and technologies. 
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. 
  • A collaborative mindset and strong team culture.
