On-site
Abu Dhabi, AE

Emirates Electrical & Instrumentation Company LLC, a valued member of the Ghobash Group, is looking for a hands-on electrical maintenance professional to join its Abu Dhabi team. With nearly 20 years’ experience serving the UAE’s oil and gas sector, the company handles both onshore and offshore projects and collaborates with ADNOC and a range of Tier 1 and Tier 2 EPC contractors. The role sits onsite and is well suited to someone who enjoys practical maintenance work and keeping complex electrical systems running smoothly.

The Job Performer position focuses on keeping electrical equipment in good shape through maintenance, inspection, testing and repair activities, all performed in line with approved procedures and work instructions. It’s a strong fit for technicians who value safety, precision, and hands-on problem solving in a plant environment. The opportunity is located in Abu Dhabi, with work taking place at ADNOC project sites and other local locations as required.

In this environment, safety, clear communication and teamwork matter. The successful candidate will coordinate with supervisors, planners and operations personnel to prepare for activities, ensure the right materials and tools are available, and maintain good housekeeping on site while preserving safety standards at every step.

Day‑to‑day rhythm on the shop floor

On a typical day, you’ll perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on a broad set of electrical equipment such as motors, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, distribution boards, UPS systems and lighting, following approved procedures. You’ll also carry out inspections and functional tests to verify reliability and compliance with standards, then diagnose faults and implement fixes to bring equipment back to service quickly and safely. Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics and manuals will be part of your workflow, alongside ensuring tools and testing devices are properly calibrated and maintained.

As part of the planning and execution cycle, you’ll review permits, risk assessments and method statements, verify safe working conditions, and isolate, lock out and tag out equipment as required. You’ll verify materials and spare parts are available before starting jobs, coordinate with other trades and disciplines, and help maintain accurate records of work performed in maintenance management systems. Throughout, you’ll keep the work area clean and safe and participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings and training as needed, while supporting shutdowns, turnarounds, commissioning and emergency maintenance activities when they arise.

Your core qualifications

To be in the running, you should bring a solid technical foundation and hands-on experience in relevant settings. A formal electrical qualification at diploma, ITI or bachelor’s level, or an equivalent credential, is expected. You should have three to five years of practical experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, power or other industrial facilities, with a good grasp of electrical safety practices, PTW systems and lockout/tagout procedures. The ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and other technical documentation is essential, as is the fitness to work in industrial plant environments, including during shutdowns and turnarounds.

On-site work in Abu Dhabi and shift expectations

The role is on-site at ADNOC project locations around Abu Dhabi, with the need for flexibility to work across shifts and extended hours when project demands require. This is a hands-on position in a plant setting, so being comfortable in an industrial environment and adhering to HSE policies, PTW requirements and company procedures is important.

Practical tips for this on-site electrical role

Lead your resume with your most relevant hands-on maintenance experience, especially any work on motors, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, distribution boards, UPS and lighting systems, and note the exact sectors you’ve supported in oil & gas, petrochemical or power facilities.

Show concrete proof of your must-have skills by detailing how you’ve applied PTW and LOTO in real projects, and describe a time when you diagnosed and fixed an electrical fault to restore service with minimal downtime.

Be ready to discuss how you read and interpreted electrical drawings, what documentation you’ve produced, and how you kept maintenance records in a management system to support reliability improvements and audits.

When interviewing, plan to explain a specific shutdown or turnaround you contributed to, including your role in coordinating with planners, suppliers and other maintenance teams, and how you managed workload and safety during the event. A good question to ask is how they structure maintenance management systems and what the typical downtime-to-reliability improvements look like on ADNOC projects.
