Tips to position yourself for this role

Lead with a summary on your resume that highlights at least 15 years of commercial management experience on civil or infrastructure projects, plus any hands-on UAE or Abu Dhabi regulatory knowledge and a track record of handling budgets above $10 million.

Show concrete proof of the must-have skills. Include project examples where you managed contract administration, procurement and vendor negotiations, and where you used Microsoft Project, Primavera or similar tools to keep a program on track while controlling costs and risks.

Be ready to discuss real-world scenarios in interviews. Focus on how you handled change orders, disputes and risk mitigation, how you led cross-functional teams, and how you maintained clear stakeholder communications across clients, consultants and contractors.

Ask a practical question about the program during your interview, such as what current procurement challenges the Abu Dhabi program faces and how the commercial manager interacts with client and contractor teams to resolve them.
