Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Junior Electrical Engineer to join our Energy & Utilities team based in Wiri, Auckland. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their engineering career to build practical experience while supporting the delivery of safe, reliable and efficient substation projects.

In this role, you’ll support Senior Engineers and Project teams with:

  • Preparing design documentation, scopes of work and handover packs
  • Assisting with estimates and project planning
  • Supporting supplier and subcontractor engagement
  • Helping to ensure our project documentation is accurate, timely and aligned with customer requirements

You’ll work closely with the Design and Planning team, Electricity Services, and our construction crews, gaining exposure to both office‑based design and field‑based project delivery.

This is a full‑time, permanent role, ideal for a recent graduate or early‑career engineer who is keen to learn, contribute and grow within the networks sector.

Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills
You may be a recent graduate or already have some industry experience – what’s most important is your attitude, willingness to learn and interest in power systems and substations. You’ll bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a recognised electrical qualification (or nearing completion)
  • Foundational understanding of, or strong interest in, electrical power systems and/or substations
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with peers, project teams and customers
  • Strong attention to detail with good organisational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; any exposure to design or scheduling tools is a bonus
  • A proactive, curious mindset – comfortable asking questions and seeking feedback
  • Willingness to visit project sites as required
