ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
We are seeking a motivated Junior Electrical Engineer to support the development and validation of advanced satellite electronics, with a particular focus on electronics design and radiation testing activities. In this role, you will contribute to schematic and PCB design, component selection, and laboratory testing, while gaining hands-on experience with space-grade hardware and radiation effects on electronic systems.
As part of an agile, international team, you will work closely with experienced electrical and mechanical engineers, as well as testing facilities and manufacturing partners, to support qualification and reliability efforts. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical skills in space electronics, including radiation testing methodologies, while contributing to real mission hardware. A curious mindset, willingness to learn, attention to detail, and strong collaboration skills are key to success in this role.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
• Define requirements and specifications for multiple digital hardware subsystems (boards or equipment), including their internal modules and associated documentation.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners throughout the full subsystem lifecycle.
• Support the development of electronic subsystems through schematic design, PCB layout, and basic architecture definition under guidance from senior engineers.
• Assist in preparing and maintaining technical documentation, including design descriptions, test plans, and verification reports.
• Contribute to component selection and evaluation, with a focus on reliability and radiation-tolerant parts.
• Participate in laboratory activities, including board bring-up, debugging, functional testing, and data collection.
• Support radiation testing campaigns (e.g., TID, SEE), including test preparation, execution, and results analysis.
• Perform basic design trade-off analyses (e.g., power, performance, cost) with mentorship from experienced team members.
• Collaborate with firmware/software engineers to help validate hardware functionality.
• Work with PCB designers and manufacturing partners to support board production and assembly.
• Assist in the review of designs across electrical, mechanical, and thermal domains.
• Contribute to risk identification and mitigation activities, including prototype testing and validation.
• Support system-level testing and performance verification activities.
• Help maintain organized records of design data, test results, and lessons learned.
• Gain familiarity with FPGA, digital signal processing, and communication system concepts, and support implementation tasks where applicable.
• Stay up to date with relevant technologies and standards in space electronics and radiation effects.
