Abu Dhabi, AE

Worley, a global player in energy, chemicals and resources, is looking for a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join its Abu Dhabi team. The role is full-time and onsite in Abu Dhabi City, reporting to a Senior Project Control Specialist. It’s a solid match for early-career engineers who want hands-on exposure to oil and gas projects across design, engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning phases.

The company operates worldwide, delivering projects from initial concept through operations and decommissioning. The position suits someone who likes working across disciplines and wants to contribute to mechanical engineering work that adheres to project specifications, applicable codes and standards, HSE requirements and ADNOC or client demands. Worley highlights a values-driven culture that supports belonging and inclusion, offers opportunities for UAE National development, and aims to upskill its people as the energy sector evolves toward lower-carbon solutions.

In this role, you’ll be part of a team that guides mechanical activities for oil and gas projects from design through start-up on site in Abu Dhabi, under guidance from senior engineers. You’ll operate as an individual contributor within a multidisciplinary environment and help ensure that mechanical engineering tasks align with project specifications and safety standards while meeting ADNOC/client expectations.

Hands-on involvement across the project lifecycle

You’ll work on both static and rotating equipment and support the engineering flow around pumps, compressors, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks and packaged equipment. Your days will blend drafting and review of datasheets, technical specifications and material requisitions with engineering calculations, and you’ll assist in evaluating mechanical equipment and vendor proposals under supervision. You’ll also review vendor drawings and datasheets, follow up on comments, and help refine P&IDs, equipment layouts and interfaces. Collaboration is key, so you’ll coordinate with Process, Piping, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, HSE, Procurement, Construction and other teams, and participate in design and 3D model reviews, constructability checks and technical coordination meetings. When questions arise during engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning, you’ll help resolve mechanical technical queries and monitor equipment manufacturing, inspection, testing, delivery, installation and preservation requirements. Site inspections, equipment installation checks and alignment activities will also be part of your routine, along with pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and performance testing support and troubleshooting. You’ll contribute to technical reporting, engineering registers, equipment lists and action trackers, and ensure compliance with API, ASME, ADNOC/client specifications, QA/QC and HSE standards. The UAE National development program and related training opportunities will be on offer as part of ongoing competency development.

What you’ll need to bring to the role

Here’s what the job requires as a baseline:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university
  • A minimum of three years of relevant Oil & Gas or Petrochemical experience, including at least two years in the GCC region

Desirable supplemental qualifications include participating in design reviews and 3D model reviews, familiarity with API and ASME standards as well as ADNOC/client specifications and QA/QC processes, and a track record of coordinating across Process, Piping, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, HSE, Procurement and Construction teams. Experience with site inspections or commissioning activities, and a demonstrated ability to engage in technical coordination meetings, would be helpful as well.

Pay, benefits and practical details

The role is full-time and onsite in Abu Dhabi, and it’s classified as an employee position. The position reports to a Senior Project Control Specialist. The job posting date is October 2, 2026, and the unposting date is November 1, 2026. No specific salary figures or listed travel allowances are provided in the posting. The section notes Worley’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive workplace and to supporting employees as they develop their skills for today’s lower-carbon energy landscape.

Tips for applicants you can act on

Lead your resume with a concise section that shows Oil & Gas or Petrochemical work and, importantly, any experience in the GCC. Set the scene with concrete examples of projects where you touched design, procurement or commissioning, and mention the kinds of equipment you worked on and the disciplines you coordinated with.

Demonstrate the must-have capabilities by detailing a project where you helped prepare or review equipment datasheets, technical specifications or material requisitions, and where you supported vendor evaluation and technical comments resolution. Include mention of any API, ASME or ADNOC/client standards you applied and how you stayed aligned with HSE requirements on the project.

Prepare to discuss concrete experiences with design reviews, P&IDs, equipment layouts and interfaces, and how you contributed to 3D model or constructability reviews. Be ready to talk about coordinating across Process, Piping, Civil/Structural, Electrical and Instrumentation teams, and how you helped resolve technical queries during engineering, fabrication or commissioning phases.

In your interview, plan to ask a sharp, project-driven question such as how Worley ensures ADNOC specifications are embedded in equipment datasheets and vendor proposals, or how the UAE National development program is implemented on Abu Dhabi oil & gas projects and what training paths exist to accelerate progression.
