Norsk Hydro, a global leader in aluminium and sustainable building solutions, is expanding its presence in the Netherlands through Hydro Building Systems Netherlands. The team focuses on quality, sustainability and forward-looking technology to support the construction industry. They are seeking an entrepreneurial Key Account Manager to help SAPA in the Netherlands strengthen strategic relationships and accelerate growth. The role is onsite in Drunen and targets someone who thrives in a client-facing, results-driven environment and enjoys shaping long-term customer partnerships in construction or technical-commercial settings.

Hydro Building Systems Netherlands operates as part of a larger international organization that brings together expertise in aluminium systems and sustainable building solutions. The new Key Account Manager will contribute to SAPA’s continued growth in the Dutch market by blending strategic account development with active new business pursuits, all while collaborating with internal teams to deliver value at every project stage.

The position would suit a commercial professional who can balance relationship building with the discipline of account planning and negotiation. If you’re energized by working with contractors, developers, architects and consultants and you can translate market signals into actionable commercial moves, this could be the right next step for you.

What The Key Account Manager Will Tackle

On a day-to-day basis, the role centers on managing and growing a portfolio of strategic accounts while actively pursuing new opportunities across the Netherlands. You will design and execute account and business plans, shaping growth strategies that meet revenue and margin targets and positioning Hydro’s solutions to win complex projects.

Negotiations sit at the core of this role. You’ll lead pricing, project and contract discussions, weighing risks and opportunities and turning market and customer insights into concrete commercial actions. Collaboration is essential, as you’ll work closely with Customer Service, Operations, Technical Support and other internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery and strong customer satisfaction.

Ownership of commercial results is expected. You will monitor performance, take corrective action where needed and stay focused on profitable growth for the Netherlands market, while building enduring relationships with contractors, developers, architects and consultants along the way.

The Right Candidate For This Role

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a commercial, economic, technical or construction-related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant commercial experience, preferably in the construction industry or a technical-commercial environment.
  • Experience as a Key Account Manager, National Account Manager, Strategic Account Manager or Senior Account Manager.
  • Proven experience with major customers, contracts and complex negotiations.
  • Experience with account strategies, business plans and commercial targets.
  • Strong commercial, analytical and relationship-building skills.
  • Entrepreneurial, proactive, independent and results-oriented.
  • Native-level Dutch and professional English.

Nice-to-have: additional strengths that would support collaboration across internal teams and translating customer insights into commercial actions would be beneficial, but are not required.

Compensation And Practical Details

  • Competitive annual salary based on experience and expertise.
  • Attractive commercial bonus.
  • 40-hour working week, Monday to Friday.
  • 25 vacation days + 12 ATV days.
  • 8% holiday allowance.
  • Company car in accordance with the applicable car policy.
  • Pension scheme with employer contribution.
  • Company-paid accident insurance.
  • Mobile phone and business-related telephone costs covered by the company.
  • Location: Drunen, Netherlands.

Tips For Applicants

Lead with your seven-plus years of commercial experience, especially if you’ve worked in construction or a technical-commercial setting and held strategic accounts or major contracts.

Show how you prove the must-have capabilities by including concrete examples of account strategies, business plans and the targets you hit. Where possible, quantify growth in revenue or margins and name the major customers you’ve managed and the negotiations you led.

Be ready to discuss a challenging negotiation and a cross-functional project you’ve driven. Bring clear stories that illustrate collaboration with customer service, operations and technical support and the impact you delivered.

Ask a smart question that shows you’re thinking about SAPA Netherlands’ future, such as how the company plans to grow its strategic accounts in the Dutch market and how cross-functional teams support those efforts.
