We’re looking for Laboratory Technicians to join our Auckland team across three sites: Auckland North (Silverdale), Auckland Central (Reliable Way) and Auckland South (Drury).

Mō te tūranga | About the role

Our Lab Technicians play an important role in the work we do, helping ensure the materials, data, and results behind our projects are accurate, reliable, and up to standard. In these hands-on roles, you’ll deliver Good Work through safe, high-quality testing that supports our customers and projects across Auckland.

Depending on the site, your role may be lab based, field based, or a mix of both, with lab-based roles focused on testing samples, reporting results, and keeping equipment and calibration on track, while field-based roles involve collecting samples and carrying out testing on site where the work is happening. You’ll work with core civil construction materials including soil, concrete, aggregates such as sand and gravel, and asphalt or bitumen, helping make sure they meet the standards needed for quality project delivery.

We’re hiring across three Auckland locations, each with a slightly different focus:

  • Auckland North (Silverdale): Field and lab based

  • Auckland Central (Reliable Way): Field based

  • Auckland South (Drury): Lab based

Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities

  • Obtain samples and carry out testing in line with required specifications and Fulton Hogan lab IANZ requirements.

  • Support the delivery of safe, on-time, within-budget, high-quality outcomes for customers.

  • Complete equipment checks before use and help maintain equipment calibration within the laboratory.

  • Apply appropriate international and local test methods and support the development of testing methodology where needed.

  • Maintain confidentiality of laboratory analysis and testing.

  • Provide analysis of results for the relevant focus area to clients.

  • Follow safety, environmental and quality processes, take part in pre-starts where needed, and report incidents, accidents and near misses.

  • Relevant laboratory and/or materials testing experience, with the flexibility to work in a lab-based, field-based, or mixed role depending on the site.

  • An understanding of quality assurance and a competent understanding of material properties.

  • Experience working towards, or having achieved, IANZ accreditation.

  • A practical, reliable, and proactive approach, with the ability to think ahead and solve problems.

  • Full class 1 licence.
