The Plant People Ltd is hiring a Landscape Carpenter and hardscape specialist for full-time onsite work in Kaiapoi, Christchurch. You’ll lead timber and hardscape on varied sites, hands-on and guiding others, focusing on decks, pergolas, retaining walls and timber features, plus paving and turf. Ideal: 3+ years in landscaping or building, ability to read architectural plans, and soft landscape experience. A Class 1 NZ license is required, Class 2 preferred (manual), along with strong communication to train staff and the ability to produce clear daily and monthly client reports. Up to 50 hours weekly when busy; in your application, highlight relevant projects and readiness for ongoing training.

🌱 What You’ll Bring:

We’re looking for someone who’s not just skilled but also eager to grow with us. You’ll ideally have:

• At least 3 years’ experience in landscaping or building

• The ability to read and interpret architectural plans

• Proven experience building all forms of outdoor structures - decks, pergolas, retaining, custom timber features etc

• Other hard landscape experience would be great - i.e Paving, concrete, turf

• Some soft landscape experience - planting, lawns etc

• A full Class 1 NZ driver’s licence minimum Class 2 preferred. (Manual)

• Strong communication skills - to help train and instruct others

• Able to produce clear daily/monthly reports so these are sent to the clients

Your work will span a variety of sites - but with a primary focus on being our timber and hardscape specialist. You’ll be hands-on and lead by example
