Voith Group is seeking a Lathe Operator for the 2nd shift in West Monroe, LA, onsite. This role prepares paper mill rolls for the cover process, trims new covers, mounts bearings, and runs multiple lathes using dial indicators to ensure precise alignment, all while following the Voith Quality Manual and work instructions and cross training as needed. You should have experience with standard tools, and familiarity with dial indicators, micrometers, diameter tapes, and basic math; overhead crane experience is a plus. Physical requirements include lifting 60 pounds and the ability to work 12 hour shifts. Summary:

Prepare paper mill rolls for the cover process as well as trim the new covers for finishing.

Responsibilities:

• Mount bearings, run multiple size lathes, line rolls up with a dial indicator, and doing so with safe practices.
• Perform all job requirements according to procedures as outlined in the VOITH Quality Manual, Company Procedures, and Work Instructions.
• Report problems to higher levels of authority as required by the Quality System.
• All other duties that may be assigned.
• Willing to learn multiple positions (cross train.)

Requirements:

• Use standard hand tools, including hammers, crescent wrenches, end wrenches, squares, tape measures, and various saws.
• Overhead crane experience preferred.
• Knowledge of a dial indicator, diameter tape, and micrometer is a plus.
• Demonstrate strong basic math skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Lift at least 60 pounds multiple times.
• Work 12 hour shifts when needed while constantly staying focused.
• Swing a 20-pound sledgehammer to tighten bearings.
