SonarSource, the Geneva-founded company behind SonarQube, is looking for a Lead Sales Solutions Engineer to cover the EMEA region. This is a full-time, onsite role based in Geneva, where the business continues to expand its global footprint. Sonar helps organizations ship agentic code with confidence, handling billions of lines of code every day and serving more than 7 million developers and 75% of the Fortune 100, including teams at Nvidia, ServiceNow, Booking.com, Goldman Sachs, AstraZeneca, and Ford. The goal is to help enterprises reduce outages, improve security, and lower the cost and risk of building software.

Founded in Geneva and now headquartered in Austin, Sonar operates with a global network of offices and hubs. The Sonar Solutions Engineering team is dedicated to helping prospective customers achieve technical success with the company’s products. In this role, you’ll be a central part of the pre-sales process, bringing deep technical expertise to prospects, supporting evaluations, and collaborating with Marketing, Product Management, and Development to shape product messaging and evolutions. If you thrive in a role that blends engineering insight with customer impact, this could be a strong fit.

The in-office culture is built around real-time collaboration in the room. The team emphasizes three anchor days in the office, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, to support teamwork and effective communication. If you’re not already based in the posted location, relocation can be explored for the right person. The company values diversity and inclusion and welcomes all qualified applicants, with accommodations available upon request via [email protected].

A day in the life at the Geneva hub

On a typical day you’ll help prospective customers see how Sonar’s AC/DC approach fits into their software development life cycle, pairing technical demonstrations with thoughtful guidance on deployment models. You’ll drive the technical side of pre-sales opportunities, lead product evaluations, and present compelling demonstrations that connect people, processes, and technology. When a deployment strategy is being chosen, you’ll advise on the best-fit options, and you’ll troubleshoot any roadblocks that come up for customers exploring the platform. After a sale, you’ll stay engaged to ensure adoption and growth in tandem with Customer Success and Support, and you’ll help existing customers explore the more advanced capabilities of additional product editions. You’ll also share know-how with channel partners to raise their level of service and extend the reach of Sonar’s solutions.

What you’ll need to bring

  • Some hands-on experience in software development or in a DevOps role, which will help you speak the customer language
  • Familiarity with both local and cloud deployments, and comfort with Linux and Windows, plus Docker, Kubernetes, plus cloud platforms like AWS and Azure
  • A genuine enthusiasm for technology and a track record of helping customers achieve results
  • Ability to dig into complex technical problems, troubleshoot effectively, craft solutions, and explain them clearly in speaking and writing
  • Proven teamwork skills, with comfort giving and receiving feedback and sharing knowledge
  • A practical, can-do mindset that questions the status quo and contributes to improvements
  • Strong presentation abilities and comfort delivering technical content to audiences
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • German language skills are desirable but not a hard requirement

In the office and practical details

The role is based in Geneva and is intended to be on-site. Relocation support is available for the right candidate. Sonar emphasizes a collaborative in-office rhythm through anchor days on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays to foster teamwork. All offers are contingent on a thorough background check and reference verification conducted before the start date. In addition, applications submitted through agencies or third-party recruiters will not be considered. If you need any accommodation during the application process, you can reach out to [email protected].

Advice for applicants

Lead with your pre-sales experience and how you’ve guided customers through software deployment decisions, especially where you aligned a solution with a SDLC framework like Sonar’s AC/DC approach.

Show concrete outcomes from your work by highlighting how you diagnosed complex technical issues, proposed scalable solutions, and communicated those solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in written and spoken form.

Prepare to discuss hands-on familiarity with Linux, Windows, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, and be ready to illustrate how you’ve used those tools to support successful customer evaluations.

Think up a thoughtful question to ask during interviews, for example: in your EMEA rollout, which deployment scenarios are most common (on-prem, cloud, or hybrid), and how do you position the value of advanced product editions to address those setups?
