TikTok’s Machine Learning Engineer Intern (E-Commerce Governance) offers a hands-on PhD internship onsite in Seattle for a 2027 start, with rolling reviews. Team Introduction:
The Governance and Experience Algorithm team was established in September 2020 and its main job is to support the following businesses with the most advanced AI technology:
- Combat any kinds of risks/violations issues in E-commerce scenarios.
- Build an E-commerce ecosystem and improve platform service capabilities

Responsibilities:
- Work with a team to design and implement algorithms to detect and control risks/frauds in contents/products/sellers/creators;
- Collaborate with strategy team, product managers, policy team and ops team to help define products and drive initiatives from engineering viewpoints

Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a PhD in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
- An understanding or keen interest in machine learning, NLP, or computer vision;
- Familiarity with programming languages such as C++, Python, Go, or Java.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest or experience in anti-fraud, anti-spam, platform-integrity, or similar fields would be a cherry on top
- A profound sense of responsibility, coupled with exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
