About the role:

Are you a skilled maintenance professional who thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment? Pact Packaging Takanini is looking for a proactive and practical Maintenance Manager to take ownership of our maintenance function and keep our production equipment running at its best.

In this hands‑on role, you’ll be responsible for the reliability, safety, and optimal performance of all manufacturing equipment and site services. You’ll lead preventative maintenance activities, carry out fault diagnosis and repair work, and respond quickly to unplanned equipment issues to support maximum factory uptime.

You’ll also play an active role in automation upgrades, process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and overall operational performance across the site.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead preventative and predictive maintenance across all equipment, keeping accurate records in MEX and proactively managing critical spare parts.
  • Respond to equipment faults, performing root cause analysis and repairs to maximise uptime and minimise unplanned stoppages (including participation in the on‑call roster).
  • Oversee all site services including cooling water, compressed air, and gas, ensuring reliability while managing contractors and procuring essential parts.
  • Maintain high housekeeping, food safety, and GMP standards, ensuring compliance with HACCP and driving continuous improvement of site cleanliness and safety.
  • Support and deliver projects, including fabrication tasks, automation initiatives, and equipment upgrades in collaboration with the Operations Manager.
  • Champion WHSE excellence, ensuring full legislative compliance, contractor safety management, active hazard reporting, and participation in all safety and environmental programmes.
  • Drive automation and process improvement, assisting with the design, commissioning, costing, and ongoing support of automated systems and maintenance plans.

Your skills and experience:

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • 10+ years of technical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Maintenance and diagnostics engineer (or equivalent engineering trade qualification)
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and CMMS (preferably MEX).
  • Current EWRB EAS-EST accreditation or willingness to obtain (desirable).
  • Excellent fault finding, diagnostic, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, approachable, and professional.
  • Familiarity with Office 365 and ability to work unattended.
