Position Summary

  • The Maintenance Technician is a highly experienced, hands-on technical specialist responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing high-speed production filling, packaging, and processing equipment in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. This role serves as a critical frontline resource supporting production reliability, equipment uptime, product quality, and operational efficiency across manufacturing lines.

     

    The successful candidate possesses extensive practical experience working directly with automated filling, capping, labeling, cartoning, case packing, conveying, inspection, and vision systems. They are recognized as a technical expert with the ability to rapidly diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation-related equipment issues while implementing sustainable corrective actions to minimize downtime and prevent recurrence.

     

    As a key member of the maintenance team, the Maintenance Technician performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities, supports line changeovers and continuous improvement initiatives, and partners closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Reliability teams to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, sound technical judgment, and a proactive approach to equipment reliability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

     

  • Must be able to make decisions on repair priorities based on work assignments.
  • Participates in preventive maintenance programs 
  • Performs electronic recordkeeping CMMS related to preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Must be able to work alone and or in a team environment.
  • Adheres to all Estée Lauder safety procedures and practices (GMP/LOTO etc).
  • Trains new employees on ELC practices and procedures within the department.
  • Assists management in evaluating new equipment installations. Performs other duties as assigned and required.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, Electro-Mechanical Technician, Industrial Electrician, or related technical trade certification.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of hands-on maintenance experience supporting automated manufacturing, filling, packaging, or processing equipment in a GMP-regulated environment.
  • Preferred Education: Post-secondary diploma or advanced technical diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or Maintenance Engineering Technology, combined with significant hands-on experience supporting automated filling and packaging operations within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive practical experience troubleshooting and repairing high-speed filling lines, cappers, labelers, cartoners, conveyors, vision systems, pumps, and ancillary production equipment.Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, and automation systems.Proven ability to diagnose complex equipment failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
