Advice for applicants
Lead your resume with your hands-on maintenance experience, highlight 1–2 years in industrial or commercial settings, mention any preventative maintenance on Class 8 trucks, and call out that you bring your own tools.
When you describe your must-have skills, give concrete examples: a time you diagnosed and repaired a mechanical, electrical or plumbing issue, how you documented the work order, and how you verified a calibration remained within tolerance after a fix.
Prepare to discuss safety protocols you’ve followed and how you’ve trained others on basic maintenance techniques, including preventative measures and proper use of tools and equipment.
Ask a thoughtful question about how much maintenance is done in-house versus with external vendors, and how Cascades measures success for a Maintenance Technician in this Rochester plant.
