The Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists for a Maintenance & Testing Engineer to join our New Intercity Fleet (NIF) team based at Kangy Angy. Working on one of Australia's most significant passenger rail programs, you'll provide technical expertise across rollingstock maintenance, testing and commissioning activities, helping ensure the highest levels of safety, reliability and performance..

Reporting to the Maintenance and Testing Manager,  you will provide technical support and advice across maintenance, testing and commissioning functions for passenger rail assets. You will work closely with operations, maintenance and engineering teams to resolve technical issues, improve asset performance and support the delivery of safe and efficient maintenance outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and coordinate maintenance, testing and commissioning documentation, including work instructions, test procedures and task lists.
  • Investigate faults, quality concerns and design issues, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Ensure all maintenance and testing activities meet safety, quality and compliance requirements.
  • Support rollingstock operations and train movements within the facility.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver effective maintenance and commissioning outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability, efficiency and operational performance.

About You:

You may bring experience from rail, rolling stock or another safety-critical industry such as defence, aviation, manufacturing, automotive or heavy industry.

What matters most is your ability to provide technical leadership, solve complex problems and work collaboratively to deliver safe and reliable outcomes.

You will bring:

  • Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical trade qualifications, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in rollingstock maintenance, testing and commissioning, or a similar safety-critical environment such as defence, aviation, manufacturing or heavy industry.
  • Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting and fault-finding capability.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.

Highly Regarded:

  • Engineering qualifications in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in asset management within large maintenance or manufacturing facilities.
  • A customer-focused mindset with a positive, team-oriented approach
