Management Accountant – Stock & Margin
Mountain WarehouseMountain Warehouse is seeking a newly qualified Management Accountant to join its Finance team in a high-impact stock and margin role. The position is a permanent, full-time vacancy based in London, with a hybrid work arrangement that blends time in the office with remote days. The company works across a network of inbound distribution centres and supports multiple international markets, so this role sits at the heart of supply chain finance and suits someone who enjoys partnering with freight, inventory and operations to drive better business decisions.
If you’re coming from a recent qualification and want to apply your technical accounting skills to a fast-moving retail environment, this could be a strong fit. You’ll be involved across the full finance lifecycle, from accounting and reporting to budgeting, control, and system enhancements, while collaborating with teams across logistics and commercial finance to deliver tangible performance insights.
Stock and margins in focus
On a day-to-day basis you’ll own the stock and margin reporting process and handle period-end journals to ensure numbers are accurate and ready for board review. You’ll shape the monthly margin commentary, helping leadership understand what’s driving performance versus budget and prior year, and you’ll push for clearer visibility of the key margin drivers and stock movements. In parallel, you’ll partner with operational teams to identify stock loss and help implement improvements, turning data into practical actions.
The role also centers on strong business partnering. You’ll build trusted relationships with Freight and Inventory teams to embed finance into decision-making and you’ll produce weekly updates on inbound freight and stock loss to support timely, data-led decisions. You’ll contribute to budgeting and forecasting work, offering context and challenge where it matters against last year’s performance.
Control, risk and compliance are core parts of the job. You’ll be the subject matter expert on the relationship between invoiced and assumed product costs, and you’ll prepare balance sheet reconciliations to manage margin risk and opportunities proactively. You’ll play a key part in year-end and audit activity and serve as a main contact for auditors, while supporting statutory and statistical reporting for the UK and international entities. You’ll also drive ongoing improvements in financial controls, systems and processes, looking for ways to simplify and strengthen what the team does.
There’s also room to shape how finance works over time. You’ll be involved in continuous improvement projects, collaborating with the Finance Systems team to automate and streamline finance processes, and you’ll support major transformations, including overhauling stock buying processes to boost efficiency and accuracy.

What you’ll get in pay and conditions
The role is a permanent, full-time position based in London, with hybrid working that means three days in the London office and two days from home. The compensation is described as a competitive salary and benefits package. In addition, you’ll receive a holiday allowance, access to a pension scheme, and a staff discount of 50% for you and 25% for family and friends.
Mountain Warehouse notes these details in good faith and uses them to describe what the role offers when you apply.
Tips to help you stand out for this role
Lead with the right qualification on your resume. Make your newly qualified status and the exact credential (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) clear at the top so the hiring team sees you match the requirement immediately.
Prove you can handle stock and margin data with tangible examples. Include instances where you ran period-end journals, produced margin analyses, and explained how your work influenced board-level decisions or budget variance discussions. Show you’ve used large datasets in Excel to deliver clear insights.
Be ready to talk about cross-functional impact. Think of a time you collaborated with Freight or Inventory teams to influence a decision or improve a process, and be prepared to describe the outcome in concrete terms.
Ask a precise question that shows you’ve thought about the transformation work underway. For example, you could ask how the ongoing overhaul of stock buying processes is progressing, what systems are involved, and what success looks like in the coming quarters.
