The Manager of International Technical Equipment Engineering is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, maintenance, reviewing and optimization of technical equipment for our port and maritime operations internationally part of technical support and Development team. The role requires planning and strong technical expertise to ensure efficient and reliable operations across our international businesses.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of engineering strategies for technical equipment, including cranes, forklifts, cargo handling systems, and other port and maritime equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address technical and operational challenges and needs.
  • Ensure compliance with international standards, regulations, and best practices in equipment engineering and maintenance.
  • Equipment planning and Development: Lead the development process for planning of new and existing port and maritime technical equipment, ensuring that it meets operational requirements, industry standards, and performance objectives.
  • Engineering Project Management: Plan, execute, and monitor engineering projects, including equipment upgrades, retrofits, and new installations. Ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with established quality and safety standards.
  • Equipment Reliability and Maintenance: Implement and oversee preventative and predictive maintenance programs for port and maritime equipment to maximize uptime, extend equipment life, and minimize costs. Develop and implement strategies for equipment troubleshooting and repair, including spare parts management and vendor support.
  • Operational Support: Provide technical support to operations teams to ensure smooth and efficient functioning of equipment. Collaborate with operations personnel to identify and address equipment-related issues and develop solutions to enhance productivity and safety.
  • Equipment Performance Analysis: Utilize data-driven methodologies to analyze equipment performance, identify areas for improvement, and develop strategies to optimize efficiency, reliability, and safety.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all equipment engineering, and maintenance activities adhere to international safety standards, environmental regulations, and other relevant compliance requirements. Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks and hazards associated with equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Technical Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including equipment specifications, manuals, maintenance records, and project reports. Provide regular updates to senior management on equipment plan , project progress, and other relevant metrics.
  • Supplier and Contractor Management:  Provide support in preparing technical specification for operation handling equipment for tendering purpose. Collaborate with procurement teams to identify and evaluate equipment suppliers and contractors. Manage relationships with these stakeholders, negotiate contracts, and monitor their performance to ensure delivery of high-quality products and services.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team by identifying opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and technological innovation. Recommend adoption of industry best practices and emerging technologies related to equipment to maintain a competitive edge in port and maritime equipment engineering.
  • Emergency Response and Crisis Management: Support in developing and implement emergency response plans and procedures to address equipment-related incidents and crises.
  • If needed develop and implement training and development programs to enhance the team's technical capabilities.
  • People Management Responsibilities: Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration within the engineering team.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, or Marine Engineering. A Master's degree or equivalent is a plus.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in port and maritime equipment engineering, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) certification or equivalent is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant engineering tools (desired).
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus. 
  • Proven record of working with heavy equipment related to maritime and ports.
  • Understand supplier, demand, and Contractor Management.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, and people skills, with a proven track record in managing high-performing engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Familiarity with international regulations and compliance requirements for port and maritime operations.
