Modine Manufacturing Company is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to join its Calgary operations. Modine has earned a long-standing reputation in thermal management, with more than 100 years of experience and about 13,000 employees worldwide working to deliver systems that improve air quality and conserve natural resources. The company operates across North America, South America, Europe and Asia, with its Climate Solutions and Performance Technologies segments driving its purpose. The role is onsite in Calgary, and it’s well suited to someone who enjoys hands-on process improvement, cross‑functional collaboration, and tackling manufacturing challenges on the shop floor.

Modine’s global footprint and engineering focus create opportunities to partner across engineering, maintenance, and production teams. The Manufacturing Engineer II role sits at the crossroads of design, fabrication, and continuous improvement, offering a practical, hands-on environment for applying CI concepts to real-world problems.

If you’re energized by turning ideas into measurable improvements, collaborating with operators and engineers to lift quality and throughput, and taking on the demands of sheet metal fabrication, CNC programming and process development, this position could be a strong fit.

Turning ideas into better processes on the shop floor

You’ll lead continuous improvement initiatives by applying lean manufacturing, six sigma and 5S methods to raise product quality, reliability and efficiency, turning data and observations into tangible changes. The role also centers on spotting opportunities to improve fabrication steps, tooling and equipment and then coordinating with equipment vendors, engineering and production staff to implement cost-saving and performance-enhancing updates.

Part of the day-to-day is refining the layout of facilities, optimizing workstation design, machine operations and material flow, always with safety and ergonomics in mind. You’ll analyze workflows, plan equipment use, and assess space requirements to keep production moving smoothly and efficiently.

Maintaining equipment reliability is a core duty, so you’ll coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs in line with OEM instructions and internal safety procedures, ensuring standards stay current. You’ll collaborate with engineering and production to interpret drawings and specifications and update engineering standards as improvements or corrective actions are needed.

In addition, you’ll help drive safety and documentation through Job Hazard Analysis for new and existing equipment and tasks, and develop Time and Operational Standards to support estimating, planning and labor forecasting. You’ll facilitate APQP, 8D problem solving and corrective actions through to completion, and you’ll implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all existing and newly introduced production equipment. The Manufacturing Engineer II also plays a key role in supporting sheet metal fabrication operations, with a strong focus on CNC programming, process improvement and equipment performance, including the transition of Prima Power programming ownership to the Manufacturing Engineering team. You’ll work closely with production, engineering and maintenance teams to push for operational improvements and better product quality, while participating in ongoing continuous improvement efforts.

Experience with Prima Power equipment and programming software is highly preferred, and the role includes ongoing support for continuous improvement, line balancing and workflow optimization, along with hands-on shop floor support for equipment setup and troubleshooting. Daily manufacturing engineering duties and related responsibilities will be part of this role.

What the right candidate brings

Must-have qualifications include a focused degree in manufacturing or industrial engineering and a minimum of five years in a manufacturing setting, plus practical knowledge of manufacturing and mechanical processes and the equipment that drives them. You should bring hands-on familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies and be comfortable using CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Solid Edge or AutoCAD. Strong written and verbal communication is essential, as is solid project management capability. A background with computer or PLC-based machine controls is a plus.
