The Exploration Company seeks a Mechanical Welding Technician to join the Mérignac Le Haillan site and support propulsion system production, including engine assembly, TIG/MIG welding, and test bench installation with strict traceability. Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.


We are looking for a Mechanical Welding Technician to join our team responsible for the production of propulsion systems designed for demanding environments. This operational role, based in Mérignac, will directly contribute to the quality and performance of delivered products. This position is based in Le Haillan within an innovative and rapidly growing industrial environment.

Main Responsibilities

Engine Assembly

  • Perform assembly and instrumentation of engines intended for testing or delivery.

  • Install engines on test benches for development, qualification, or validation phases.

  • Actively contribute to the drafting and improvement of assembly procedures.

TIG/MIG Welding

  • Manufacture specific parts for test benches using TIG/MIG welding, in accordance with drawings and technical requirements.

  • Carry out repair operations on parts or prototypes using TIG/MIG welding.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in welding various metals and alloys: aluminum, steel, stainless steel, Inconel, etc.

Quality Control and Compliance

  • Strictly apply quality standards related to assembly and ensure full traceability of operations.

  • Contribute to the identification, analysis, and resolution of technical or quality non-conformities.

Production Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform first-level maintenance of assembly equipment (welding stations, tooling, torque wrenches, etc.).

  • Monitor tool condition and report any anomalies to ensure the availability and reliability of industrial equipment.

Continuous Improvement

  • Propose concrete actions to optimize processes, tools, and working methods.

  • Contribute to strengthening the workshop team’s technical skills by sharing best practices and expertise.


Education and Experience

  • Education level: Technical vocational diploma (Bac Pro) or higher qualification such as BTS or DUT in the following fields: metal fabrication, fitting, mechanical assembly, industrial manufacturing, aeronautics, or an equivalent industrial sector; or recognition of prior learning/experience.

  • Professional experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical assembly, ideally within the aerospace, space, defense, naval, or high-performance automotive sectors.


Required Technical Skills

  • Strong command of welding processes and understanding of tolerance management issues.

  • Experience using machine tools for machining small tooling components.

  • Knowledge of first-level maintenance of industrial equipment.
