CERN is seeking a Mechanical Technical Engineer in the EN-MME-MD group to lead the design and validation of SRF components for the FCC, coordinating with manufacturing and materials experts and guiding a team of designers. The role requires a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering or equivalent, solid CAD experience CATIA preferred, and the ability to produce 3D models, ISO GPS compliant drawings, and detailed calculations and specifications, with a focus on design reviews. English is essential, French learning expected; onsite Geneva work with shift and radiation area duties. This is a five-year limited-duration contract with potential extension. To apply, tailor your CV and portfolio to show CAD GPS PLM and leadership, provide project examples, and submit before 14 July 2026. Emphasize fit for a diverse collaborative science setting.
At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.
Introduction:
The Engineering Department (EN) pushes forward the limits of technology so that physicists can carry out their research. Within the EN department, the Mechanical and Materials Engineering (MME) Group provides the CERN community with specific engineering solutions combining mechanical design, fabrication, and material sciences.
Are you passionate by mechanics, and are you skilled in computer-aided design? This is an opportunity for you. You will be part of a multidisciplinary project team designing, fabricating and testing a new generation of components for the Future Circular Collider (FCC).
As a Mechanical Technical Engineer in the MME Design Office (EN-MME-MD), you will be in charge of mechanical engineering and design of new complex equipment and mechanical systems for high-energy physics projects and new accelerators and in particular for Superconducting Radio Frequency (SRF) equipment for the FCC.
