Meridian Energy is hiring a Mechanical Fitter for the Manapōuri Hydro Power Station near Te Anau, full-time, on-site. Mō te tūranga | What you’ll be doing
Based out of our Manapōuri Hydro Power Station, near Te Anau in the South Island, this role focuses on executing scheduled maintenance works and assisting with projects on-site to ensure the continued reliability of our hydro generation assets.
As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll be on the front line of our maintenance delivery and fault response capability by:
Responding to faults and emergencies
Undertaking maintenance projects when required
Effectively investigating and resolving faults
Planning and preparing the job, execution and reporting
Actively identifying hazards and risks, following all safety procedures and reporting them
accordingly
Achieving and maintaining the competencies necessary to hold access permits, apply and
remove safety isolations and operate plant under remote supervision from our Control
Centre
Promoting continuous improvement and processes through applying innovative ideas and
actions
Using your skills to ensure all work is undertaken safely, accurately, and on time

Meridian is a NZ-wide operation and there may be the requirement of short periods of travel to suit the operational needs of the business. Additionally, the role involves reactive maintenance and monitoring outside of normal working hours on a rostered basis once trained.
This is an on-site role, working a 9-day fortnight with regular working hours. Given the remote location of our Manapōuri site, your commute includes travel by boat before your start time.

Trade or Advanced Trade Cert in Mechanical Trades
Experience in heavy rotating plant maintenance
Experience in fault finding control systems
Understanding of maintenance management systems + sound computer literacy skills
Current Driver’s License
Ability to work within a team or individually
Demonstrated commitment to Health & Safety practices
Experience in Hydro generation is a bonus but not essential!
