We are looking for a
MEP Manager
for one of our exciting projects in Ottawa.
The
MEP Manager
is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) scopes on ICI construction projects. Acting as the GC’s technical authority for building systems, the MEP Manager ensures MEP work is fully integrated with architectural and structural elements, delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract documents, codes, and quality standards.
This role is critical in managing trade contractors, resolving technical challenges, and supporting successful commissioning and turnover of complex building systems.
Responsibilities:
Pre‑Construction & Planning

Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to identify MEP scope, risks, and coordination requirements

Participate in design development, constructability reviews, and value engineering initiatives

Assist with MEP budgeting, cost planning, and procurement strategies
-
Support subcontractor tendering, evaluation, and award recommendations

Develop MEP execution plans, phasing strategies, and site logistics in collaboration with the project team
MEP Coordination & Execution

Lead MEP coordination meetings with consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams

Ensure MEP installations align with architectural, structural, and life‑safety requirements

Coordinate sequencing of MEP activities with overall construction schedule

Monitor field installation to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes
Schedule, Cost & Change Management

Track MEP progress against the master schedule and short‑interval plans

Review and validate MEP subcontractor progress claims and change requests
-
Identify potential delays, cost impacts, and mitigation strategies early
-
Support change management, including pricing reviews and schedule impact assessments
Quality, Safety & Compliance

Enforce quality control standards for all MEP systems and installations
-
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (OBC, CSA, NFPA, ASHRAE, etc.)

Promote and enforce site safety requirements in coordination with the project team and subcontractors

Participate in inspections, testing, and authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) reviews
Requirements
-
Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Building Systems, or a related field
-
8–12+ years of progressive experience in MEP coordination or management on ICI projects
-
Proven experience working for or with a General Contractor

Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and life‑safety systems

Solid understanding of Canadian building codes and local authority requirements

Experience with BIM coordination and digital construction tools

Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and specifications

In accordance with applicable pay transparency legislation, EBC Inc. has included the expected salary range for this role, which is
$110,000-$160,000
. Compensation within the range is determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, localization, and internal equity. Base salary is one component of EBC’s comprehensive total rewards offering, which may include performance-based incentives, extended health and wellness benefits, retirement savings programs, and career development opportunities.
