CambiCambi, a Norway-based multinational that trades on Oslo’s growth market, is hiring a Mild Steel Fabricator/Welder to join its Congleton site in the UK. This full-time, onsite role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on fabrication and precise welding, and who wants to contribute to projects that support a low-carbon circular economy. Cambi works globally with offices in several countries and a diverse team of more than 25 nationalities, delivering industrial installations that help cities treat wastewater sludge and generate renewable energy, organic fertilisers and soil products.
The company’s core work centers on designing, testing, manufacturing, installing and operating process installations that employ thermal hydrolysis to reduce emissions and create valuable byproducts. Cambi counts major cities such as Oslo, London, Washington, Singapore and Sydney among its clients, underscoring its global footprint and commitment to sustainability. The Congleton role sits within this environment, offering the chance to contribute to high‑quality fabrication and welding work on important projects.
If you’re reliable, detail‑minded and safety‑conscious, this could be a good fit. You’ll be hands-on, reading engineering drawings, preparing materials and turning designs into robust mild steel structures. You’ll work alongside a team on a site that values quality and safe, tidy practices as you help deliver components that meet stringent specifications.
From drawings to finished steel
In this role you’ll start by interpreting engineering drawings and work instructions, then translate them into practical fabrication steps. You’ll measure, mark out, cut, drill and prepare mild steel materials before assembling components and structures according to the drawings. You’ll perform MAG welding to a competent standard and operate a range of fabrication tools and machines, saws, grinders and drills among them, always with safety and quality in mind. You’ll keep your work area and equipment clean and well‑maintained and you’ll follow health and safety policies, risk assessments and safe working procedures at all times, using the appropriate PPE throughout the process. Meeting production deadlines while upholding a high level of workmanship is a constant aim in this role, which is based onsite at the Congleton site in the UK.

- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills and techniques
- Reliability, punctuality and flexibility to meet production demands
- A commitment to keeping the workspace safe and tidy
- The ability to consistently meet quality standards and production deadlines
- A strong work ethic with a meticulous approach and a safety‑first mindset

Advice for applicants
Lead your CV with your mild steel fabrication and MAG welding experience, and make sure your ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is crystal clear up front. If you’ve worked on projects that required turning drawings into fabricated structures, highlight the exact sizes, tolerances and materials you handled and any quality checks you performed.
When you describe your must‑have skills, back them up with concrete examples. Show a project where you prepared materials, assembled components and delivered a finished piece that met customer specifications, and mention the tools and machines you used. If you can quantify impact (for example, reduced fit issues by a certain percentage or improved cycle times), include that data.
For interview prep, be ready to discuss how you approach safety in the workshop, how you prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and how you handle challenges when welding or fabricating to tight tolerances. Expect to talk through a scenario where you sourced a solution to a fabrication problem and how you communicated that solution to the team.
Think of a good question to ask that ties directly to this role, such as what welding qualification tests you run after employment and which standards are used, or what kinds of projects are typical at the Congleton site and how new team members get up to speed with the processes there.
