The team behind this opportunity values practical, safer, and more sustainable ways to move goods for customers.

The role centers on guiding a dedicated team of warehouse leaders, operators, administrators and contractors who store and handle customer goods. It’s a hands-on leadership post that combines people development with day-to-day operations to keep safety, accuracy and service levels on track. If you’re drawn to frontline leadership, process improvements, and building a strong safety and service culture, this opportunity could be a great match.

Steering the Wiri operation day to day

Working closely with the Operations Manager, you’ll provide leadership and operational guidance across the site, helping to keep the operation smooth and compliant. You’ll keep inventory accuracy sharp through stock control and reconciliation and you’ll assess workload demands to redeploy resources so the site remains effective and efficient.

Each day includes overseeing the inbound and outbound volume to ensure orders are completed within expected timeframes in a safe and secure manner, while maintaining responsibility for the overall day-to-day operations. You’ll also contribute to attracting and developing talent, including recruitment, labour hire engagement, performance management and coaching, and you’ll support the site in meeting targets for safety, environment, warehouse KPIs, service delivery and profitability. Building a healthy culture around safety, service excellence, teamwork and continuous improvement will be a central focus.

The must-have capabilities include the ability to coach and develop an operational team, strong written and verbal communication with a customer-focused and influencing mindset, solid problem-solving skills with commercial awareness and numeracy, and comfort with MS Office while being quick to learn new systems. A forklift licence is a nice-to-have but not required.

Advice for applicants

Lead your resume with a line about a time you coached and developed an operational team on a warehouse floor, focusing on safety and efficiency and the impact you drove on the operation.

When you describe your must-have skills, give concrete examples of how you improved inventory accuracy, managed stock control and reconciliation, and contributed to overall inventory management.

Be ready to discuss how you analyse workload demands and redeploy resources to keep the operation on track, and how you foster safety, environmental compliance and continuous improvement on the site.

Plan a smart question to ask about how success is measured for the site and the role, specifically which safety targets, warehouse KPIs, service delivery metrics and profitability expectations matter most, and how this position contributes to reaching them.
