What we’re looking for:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Paralegal to join our Patent & Trademark team in Ada, MI. This individual will play a key role in supporting Amway's intellectual property portfolio, with a primary focus on patent matters while also gaining exposure to trademark activities through cross-training opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for intellectual property law, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently in a fast-paced, global environment. In this role, you will support experienced patent attorneys working on matters involving new patent applications, patent clearance activities, licensing, litigation support, and other intellectual property initiatives.

This role offers a unique opportunity to support a global intellectual property practice that helps protect innovations across a diverse portfolio of technologies and products. Working closely with patent attorneys, you will contribute to the administration and maintenance of patent and trademark matters, manage critical filing and renewal activities, coordinate documentation with business partners around the world, and help ensure important deadlines are tracked and met. You'll regularly collaborate with teams across the United States and international markets, including R&D and business partners, while gaining exposure to a broad range of intellectual property activities. The position combines meaningful independent responsibility with the support of an experienced legal team, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys detail-oriented work, building cross-functional relationships, and contributing to the protection of innovation on a global scale.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Required to have one of the three qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree with a certificate in Paralegal Studies
    • Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies with 2+ years of relevant experience
    • Completion of management-approved paralegal certification with 5+ years of paralegal experience
  • Experience/Interest in supporting patent, trademark, or other intellectual property portfolios.
  • Familiarity with USPTO procedures and filing requirements.
  • Experience working with intellectual property database systems preferred.
