Google is hiring a Photonic Engineer, Machine Learning in Sunnyvale, CA for a full time onsite role. The position expects a bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics or related field with at least 6 years in a high speed datacom environment and 5 years in digital coherent optical transmissions; a PhD and experience with automation, DSP, and system modeling are preferred. You’ll design low cost, high speed optical transceivers for data centers and develop optical systems to scale TPU and GPU superpods, while researching new photonic networking technologies and disaggregation approaches to boost efficiency. Minimum qualifications:

- 5 years of experience in digital coherent optical transmissions.
Preferred qualifications:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with script writing and test and measurement system automation.
- Proficiency in digital signal processing, high-speed optoelectronic circuit simulation or system modeling.
- Knowledge of large volume high-speed optical transceiver designs and manufacturing.
- Knowledge of data center network and machine learning system architectures.
