Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, is seeking a Port Seasonal Journeyperson Millwright for the Red Dog Port facility. This temporary full time on site role covers installing, maintaining, dismantling and overhauling heavy mechanical equipment and conveyor systems, performing routine belt maintenance, and handling general building repairs. Rotation options include two weeks on site with one week off site or four weeks on site with two weeks off site. The ideal candidate has five plus years as a Journeyperson Millwright in a heavy industrial setting, plus five or more years welding, alignments, rigging and fabrication and strong carpentry or plumbing skills. A valid driver’s license and a TWIC card are required. Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Seasonal Journeyperson Millwright at the Port facility
Rotation schedule will be two weeks on-site and one week off-site or four weeks on site and two weeks off-site
Reporting to the Port Facility Supervisor:
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as comply with safety policies and procedures (MSHA and Red Dog EMS training) and ensure daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards
• Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and advise coworkers and visitors of such policies and procedures as required
• Install, maintain, dismantle and overhaul machinery, such as heavy mechanical equipment and conveyor systems
• Perform routine maintenance on port conveyor belts
• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions; install and troubleshoot equipment
• Complete routine tasks such as lubrication of machinery, seal replacement, and preventative maintenance
• Operate forklift, mobile elevated work platform, and other port equipment when required
• Provide building and facility repair such as plumbing, fabricating, carpentry, troubleshooting, and replace and repair
• Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and kept in a clean and orderly condition
• Perform other related duties as assigned
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must have five (5) years of experience as a Journeyperson Millwright in heavy industrial setting conducting maintenance on pumps, conveyors, gear boxes and roll up doors.
• Must have five (5) or more years’ experience welding, conducting alignments, heavy rigging and fabrication with a strong building / facility repair ability (carpentry, flooring, plumbing, etc.)
• Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and kept in a clean and orderly condition
• Perform other related duties as assigned
• Valid driver’s license
• Able to work cooperatively with others
• Ability to manage time independently with limited supervision
• Possess good communication skills
• Committed to safety
• Perform labor intensive work when required
• Work day or night shifts as required
• Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card
