Google seeks a Principal Engineer to define and drive the PIE Robotics roadmap for data center hardware, marrying strategic leadership with hands-on systems engineering to deploy autonomous mobile robots, automated guided vehicles, and multi-axis robotic arms for scale up, repair and decommission. You will lead cross-functional initiatives with executive stakeholders, source and integrate the latest robotics and AI technologies, and own end-to-end deployment from concept to field operation. Ideal candidates bring a PhD or equivalent, 15+ years in robotics, deep expertise in control, planning, kinematics and mechatronics, and hands-on experience with embedded systems, sensor fusion, VLA models, imitation learning, RL and ROS. In this role, you will lead the strategy and technical development of Data Center hardware robotics systems. You will lead internally and externally, to deliver the robotics automation solutions to enable our scale up and out hardware deployment, repair operations, and final decommission.
