Job Description

About the Role


As a Principal Environmental Specialist, your impact will be in providing consultancy and technical services to deliver innovative environmental solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects locally, nationally and internationally. This is an exciting role that blends business development, leadership and a chance to be entrepreneurial and help grow the Environmental Management and Approvals Discipline for Engeny in Queensland.

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing environmental approvals and compliance deliverables to various clients and industries for both green field and brown field projects.
  • Assist to grow the environmental discipline through client engagement and business development.
  • Utilise risk-based framework and operational experience to drive improved, practical and sustainable outcomes for clients.
  • Manage and drive quality project outcomes for clients that are on budget and aligned with schedule.
  • Prepare project proposals that drive innovative, practical and sustainable outcomes for clients.
  • Support the well-being, development, and resourcing of team members.

Qualifications

About You

Ideally, you will have a minimum of 10+ years’ professional experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities and demonstrated expertise as an environmental specialist within a consultancy environment.

You will also have:

  • Relevant Tertiary in engineering or science (Civil, Environmental etc)
  • Established network in Queensland within government, regulatory bodies and private sector
  • Demonstrated experience in environmental approvals/planning and compliance across resources, private/development and/or government sectors
  • Demonstrated technical experience in environmental compliance and approvals projects
  • High level knowledge and understanding of relevant State (Queensland) and Federal environmental and planning legislation (Environmental Protection Act 1994, Minerals Resources Act 1989, Planning Act 2016, State Development and Public Works Organisation Act 1971)
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, develop business and project manage
  • Proven leadership skills and a desire to train, guide and mentor less experienced engineers
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to manage stakeholders at all levels
  • Well-rounded critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience on site desirable
