Capital SMART seeks a Production Manager for its Knoxfield site on a full-time basis. You’ll own the workshop floor, drive throughput and quality, and lead a skilled team across repairs to finish work on time. You’ll manage production, scheduling, bottleneck removal, and toolbox talks while upholding a safety culture and coordinating with the site manager, estimators and customer service. The ideal candidate has proven leadership in a fast-paced automotive setting, a solid grasp of end-to-end repairs, and strong communication; repair management system experience (Autoflow or Estimage) is a plus, and full Australian work rights are required. Apply with a CV that shows throughput gains, safety leadership and cross-functional collaboration, and quantify results where possible.
Capital SMART is Australia and New Zealand's leading accident repair network, with 60+ sites and a reputation for setting the benchmark in high-volume collision repair. We're looking for an experienced Production Manager to join our site leadership team on a full-time, permanent basis.
The Role
You'll own the workshop floor — driving production efficiency, managing workflow, and leading a skilled team of tradespeople to deliver repairs on time, to quality, and to the Capital SMART standard. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows how a repair shop runs and knows how to get the best out of people.
What you'll be doing:
- Managing day-to-day workshop production to meet throughput and turnaround targets
- Scheduling and allocating work across panel, paint, prep, assembly, and detail teams
- Monitoring job progress and identifying and resolving bottlenecks before they cause delays
- Ensuring all repairs meet quality standards at every stage of the process
- Leading, coaching, and motivating a team of automotive tradespeople
- Conducting toolbox talks and supporting a strong safety culture on the floor
- Liaising with the site manager, estimators, and customer service teams to keep jobs on track
- Managing parts ordering and ensuring materials are available when needed
- Completing production reporting and KPI tracking accurately and on time
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience in a production or workshop management role within smash repair or a related automotive environment
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end repair process — panel, paint, prep, assembly, and detail
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs simultaneously
- A solutions-focused mindset — you deal with problems, you don't pass them on
- Strong communication skills across all levels of the business
- Experience with repair management systems (e.g. Autoflow, Estimage) an advantage
- Full working rights in Australia
What's on offer:
- Permanent full-time role — Monday to Friday
- Competitive salary package commensurate with experience
- Uniforms provided
- Ongoing leadership development and training
- I-CAR training support
- Weekly lunches and monthly team celebrations
- Staff discounts on parts and tools
- Referral bonus up to $2,000
- Clear pathways into senior management
- Guaranteed Christmas shutdown
