Production Technician
AVI-SPLAVI-SPL, a leader in digital enablement solutions and the largest provider of collaboration technology services, is hiring a Production Technician for an onsite role in Zürich, ZH. The company helps organizations connect people with technology to create better experiences, offering a broad suite of managed IT and broadcast services. This role is well suited for hands-on technicians who enjoy the learning curve of live production and who relish opportunities to improve systems over time.
The Production Technician handles the technical operation, maintenance, and ongoing optimization of event production facilities, control rooms, and broadcast systems for an established client. You’ll be curious, practical, and ready to suggest improvements that keep shows running smoothly and safely.
If you like working behind the scenes to help events come to life, whether onsite, hybrid, or fully virtual, and you enjoy collaborating with client teams and internal engineers to refine workflows, this role could be a strong fit.
Keeping the show on air from Zürich
Your day-to-day centers on keeping production systems healthy across multiple environments, ensuring operational readiness, and coordinating repairs, firmware updates, and replacements with help desks, vendors, and internal engineering teams. You’ll support on-site, hybrid, virtual, and broadcast-style events, translating client objectives into technical production strategies alongside the event teams.
Documentation and standardization matter here: you’ll maintain operational checklists and readied procedures for all supported facilities, monitor incidents and recurring issues, and participate in post-event reviews to identify root causes and opportunities for improvement. You’ll contribute to technical conversations about workflows, system architecture, and signal routing, and you’ll help evaluate new technologies and solutions as they arise.
In practice, you’ll assist with the hands-on setup, configuration, and operation of production systems for live and broadcast productions, manage signal routing and streaming workflows, and provide live troubleshooting to minimize disruption. You’ll work with colleagues across departments to ensure the control rooms and event spaces stay ready and compliant with defined standards, and you’ll help document best practices so the team can stay consistent across assignments.

- At least three years backing onsite, virtual, and hybrid live events
- Solid track record in production systems support and hands-on control room experience

- Good grasp of audio/video signal flow in digital broadcast and live production settings
- Familiarity with LAN/WAN networking, managed switches, VLANs, QoS, and networked production systems
- Knowledge of IP-based media workflows and transporting audio/video over managed networks during events
- Ability to troubleshoot network-related production issues such as latency, packet loss, bandwidth constraints, and multicast/unicast distribution

Advice for applicants
Lead with the numbers that prove you meet the must-haves. In your resume, open with a concise summary of more than four years in event production or related technical fields, plus at least three years supporting onsite, virtual, and hybrid events, and a line about your strongest production systems expertise.
Show you can back up the must-have skills with specifics. List gear and platforms you’ve worked with, production switchers from Ross or Blackmagic, TriCaster or vMix, Yamaha audio consoles, Dante networks, Shure wireless systems, and collaboration tools like Teams or Zoom. Include a brief project blurb that demonstrates diagnosing and resolving a complex production issue.
Prepare to speak about real incidents in interviews. Walk through a past event where you identified a root cause, documented the troubleshooting workflow, and implemented a lasting improvement. Be ready to discuss how you keep technical procedures up to date and why documenting standards matters for consistency.
Ask practical questions that tie to the role’s specifics. For example, inquire about how the team handles redundancy and failover for critical systems, what the post-event technical postmortem cadence looks like, and how technical standards are developed and updated across client environments.
