Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Accountant to support project-based financial operations, including billing, job costing, and subcontractor management. This role works closely with project management teams to ensure accurate financial tracking and timely project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage project invoicing and payment processes
  • Perform budget vs. job cost comparisons and daily cost reviews
  • Prepare and manage subcontracts and compliance documentation
  • Track compliance for all subcontractors
  • Support monthly and annual financial close processes
  • Review project specifications for insurance and bonding requirements
  • Load and process weekly subcontractor payments
  • Process certified payroll reports for prevailing wage projects
  • Prepare owner and subcontractor change orders
  • Generate monthly project billings and communicate with project teams
  • Monitor and maintain accounts receivable
  • Conduct monthly project financial analysis with stakeholders
  • Prepare job cost and variance reports
  • Create and manage phase codes and financial tracking structures
  • Enter and manage invoices in accounting systems (e.g., Viewpoint/Vista)
  • Communicate with vendors and subcontractors regarding financial matters
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Prior accounting experience required (construction or project accounting preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, billing, and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required)
  • Experience with Viewpoint/Vista preferred
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
