Transport for NSW is seeking a Project Development Engineer to lead capital infrastructure projects that boost traffic efficiency and road safety. In this role you’ll develop and manage projects through lifecycle, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, provide technical advice, manage stakeholder engagement, and ensure scope, cost, quality and safety compliance while shaping an integrated network solution. Success relies on planning, design and delivery experience in traffic and safety infrastructure, with the ability to navigate constraints, budgets and schedules and to communicate complex ideas clearly. Apply by 11:59 PM on 23 July 2026; review the role description and contact Caroline Rampertshammer with questions. Flexible work options may be available; Aboriginal and disability applicants are encouraged to apply.

You may have been part of some big projects before, but this work is legacy-building.

You have the opportunity to gain a wealth of expertise and a diverse range of skills, providing insight and knowledge without losing sight of your work-life balance or wellbeing.

In this role, you'll:

Working as part of a team delivering small to medium capital infrastructure solutions and projects that improve traffic efficiency, road safety, public transport and customer outcomes.

This role will see you develop and manage infrastructure projects across their early lifecycle, lead multidisciplinary inputs, provide technical advice, coordinate designs and documentation, engage and manage stakeholders and ensure projects meet scope, cost, quality, and safety requirements while contributing to a collaborative, integrated and fit for purpose network solution.

You will lead integrated, evidence based project development and deliver high quality, customer focused outcomes in a complex, multidisciplinary, time pressured environment involving constrained road corridors and diverse stakeholder expectations.

About you

Your project development engineering capability, stakeholder engagement and problem solving skills formed across project planning, engineering design, project management and delivery environments – particularly in traffic and safety-based infrastructure will see you navigate competing priorities, overcome complex constraints, and bring structured project management discipline to identify and deliver effective, community focused solutions.

You’re recognised as a capable engineering professional, skilled at communicating complex technical concepts and coordinating multidisciplinary inputs, experienced in developing infrastructure designs, managing budgets, risks and schedules, and negotiating with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
