RESPONSABILITIES Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Project Director holds full responsibility for the successful delivery of the projects under their supervision—from project setup during the bidding phase through to project delivery and final payment. They ensure strong cohesion and effective communication among all managers assigned to the projects. They maintain business relationships with clients.

Operational Management

  • Provide a healthy and safe work environment for all employees, suppliers, and subcontractors operating under EBC’s authority;
  • Conduct project profitability studies, prepare financial forecasts, analyze variances, and present results;
  • Negotiate subcontracting agreements and ensure optimal supplier management;
  • Manage the project schedule, tracking indicators, critical path, and ensure rigorous updates;
  • Identify contentious issues that may affect project profitability and/or schedule, and implement appropriate corrective actions;
  • Maintain a regular presence on construction sites, identify necessary corrective measures, and collaborate with the superintendent for implementation;
  • Implement LEAN philosophy on job sites to optimize operational efficiency;
  • Approve subcontractor and supplier invoices;
  • Oversee the preparation of payment applications and ensure they are submitted to the owner;
  • Ensure full project closeout (substantial completion, project closeout manual, release of holdbacks, etc.);
  • Comply with EBC quality control requirements and the ISO program.

Business Development

  • Act as a key representative of EBC to current and potential clients, building long-term, trust-based business relationships;
  • Actively participate in identifying new project opportunities and expanding the business portfolio;
  • Contribute to preconstruction activities by supporting preliminary estimates, feasibility analyses, and bidding strategies;
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the market, industry trends, and client needs to effectively position EBC;
  • Provide advisory support to clients to enhance service offerings and optimize proposed solutions;
  • Promote EBC’s brand and expertise during events, conferences, and networking activities;
  • Ensure a smooth transition between the project development phase and the execution phase.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction, or any other equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience;
  • Experience managing projects over $30 million;
  • Member of an engineering professional order; 
  • PMP or LEED AP certification (asset);
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Bilingualism in French and English (asset).
