The role
In this Project Engineer role, you’ll sit within Vector’s Capital Programme Delivery team, supporting the delivery of capital investment across Auckland’s electricity network. Acting as the technical lead within project teams, you’ll work closely with project managers and design partners to manage the design phase, review and validate engineering outputs, and ensure designs are translated effectively into construction. You’ll also play a key role in maintaining technical assurance across the project lifecycle, including site inspections, quality checks, and verifying compliance with Vector and industry standards.
This is a hands-on role that blends technical engineering with real-world delivery. You’ll lead technical discussions, coordinate design activities across internal teams and external consultants, and stay closely involved on-site during delivery phases. The work is varied and fast-paced, with multiple projects running concurrently and regular interaction with a wide range of stakeholders across the business and delivery ecosystem.
What sets this role apart is the opportunity to work client-side at Vector, giving you greater ownership and influence over how projects are delivered. You’ll gain exposure to a diverse portfolio spanning core network infrastructure and emerging technologies, while building strong relationships across a large organisation and external partners. It’s a dynamic environment where you can see the tangible impact of your work on the network and our customers across Auckland.
