Position Description

 

He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:

KiwiRail is undergoing significant transformation to modernise and grow our rail and Interislander services across Aotearoa. As a Property Advisor, you'll play an important role in supporting land acquisition, disposal and property management activities across KiwiRail's diverse land portfolio.  Working within our Crown Land Use team, you'll provide property advice and support for a range of infrastructure projects, helping to navigate property transactions, statutory processes and stakeholder engagement activities. You'll work closely with internal teams, government agencies, iwi, landowners and professional advisors to deliver property outcomes that support KiwiRail's long-term strategic objectives.  This is an excellent opportunity for a property professional looking to build their expertise across a varied portfolio while contributing to projects that connect communities and support New Zealand's future.

 

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting land acquisition and disposal activities across KiwiRail's property portfolio
  • Assisting with negotiations involving Crown agencies, private landowners, iwi and other stakeholders
  • Supporting statutory processes, including Public Works Act requirements
  • Preparing reports, recommendations and documentation for project and governance approvals
  • Providing accurate and timely property advice to project teams and business stakeholders
  • Engaging with valuers, surveyors, legal advisors and other property professionals
  • Supporting delivery programmes and property-related reporting activities
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Contributing to strategic property outcomes that support KiwiRail's infrastructure investments

 

Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring:

  • 3–5+ years' experience within the property sector
  • Knowledge of land ownership, tenure and property principles
  • Understanding of valuation methodologies and property transactions
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • Experience preparing clear, concise reports and documentation
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong problem-solving capability and sound commercial judgement
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively across diverse teams
  • Experience with Crown land management, Public Works Act processes or property law would be advantageous
