Quality Advisor
MurphyMurphy, a sector-leading engineering and energy solutions company, is hiring a Quality Advisor to join its Energy team on the Great Grid partnership (GGP). The role is based full-time and on site in Ollerton (NGG 9PZ), United Kingdom. This is a hands-on position that will suit someone who wants to lead quality on major energy delivery projects and work closely with engineering and site teams to keep performance right first time.
Murphy emphasizes in-house expertise and a continuous drive to innovate within the industry, delivering design, construction and commissioning across EPC projects for regulated and private customers. The work spans conventional power and energy transition markets, with a track record of long-standing relationships with major energy providers in several countries. The successful candidate will help maintain Murphy’s quality standards across sites and yards as projects move from design through to handover.
Quality that travels from site to strategy
You’ll champion the “Quality – Right First Time” mindset and work with the Quality function to promote best practice. Collaboration with the engineering teams will be a daily habit, helping educate engineers and operators on quality requirements so projects stay aligned with policy, procedures and stated standards. You’ll mentor staff to ensure they understand the quality management systems, and you’ll conduct regular inspections and site audits to verify that work is carried out as required. When nonconformances arise, you’ll steer reporting and guide actions to closure, while developing campaigns and improvement plans that fit with the broader quality management approach. In addition, you’ll prepare and maintain quality plans and procedures, monitor compliance, and identify significant quality issues for contracts or yards, setting up the right controls from the outset. Documentation and record-keeping will be essential, and you’ll deliver reports and presentations to the business and quality leadership, while contributing to pre-qualification, tender and quality award submissions.
In short, you’ll blend hands-on site activity with strategic quality planning, ensuring the program stays on track and quality improvements are visible across contracts and yards. This is a role for someone who can translate technical needs into practical actions, and who can influence teams to adopt better practices without slowing progress.

Prepare to discuss practical examples from engineering or construction settings, including how you’ve structured quality plans, audits and record-keeping across multiple contracts or yards, and how you’ve communicated findings to both site teams and senior stakeholders.
When you’re in the interview, ask about how Murphy measures quality improvements on the GGP projects, and how the Quality function collaborates with engineering and project management to embed quality into everyday routines.
