Quality Assurance Engineer
Air New ZealandAir New Zealand is expanding its digital footprint and is looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join a high-performing product team in Auckland. This is a full-time, onsite, 12-month fixed-term opportunity that puts you at the heart of a modern software delivery effort. If you enjoy shaping reliable software and contributing to digital experiences used across the business, this could be a great fit.
The role sits with a cross-functional squad delivering software in a collaborative, Agile environment. You’ll work with engineers, architects, business analysts and fellow QA specialists to strengthen quality from planning through release, helping automate what you test and digging into defects to prevent their recurrence.
Air New Zealand values its people and its iconic brand. This is your chance to contribute to a New Zealand staple while building hands-on experience in a dynamic, transformation-focused setting.
Day-to-day that keeps the wheels turning
From the early stages of a project to its deployment, you’ll participate in an Agile/Lean workflow, supporting the team as it designs, builds and ships software. You’ll design, develop and run automated tests drawn from functional and technical requirements, and you’ll keep automated and regression suites healthy by maintaining and refactoring them so they stay reliable and useful.
You’ll apply software engineering thinking to test automation with a focus on maintainability and reuse, while also investigating defects and working with the team to fix issues and prevent them from coming back. Collaboration is key here: you’ll team up with architects, software engineers and business analysts to pinpoint problems and shape software that makes testing easier and more effective. You’ll also follow the agreed processes, standards and guidelines for both manual and automated testing.

Advice for applicants
Lead your resume with your QA track record, making sure to spotlight the two to five years of experience and concrete examples of automation work.
When you describe your experience, frame how you designed test approaches and how you kept automation suites maintainable and reusable. Include specific tools or frameworks you’ve used and tangible outcomes from your work.
Be ready to discuss how you’ve worked in Agile or DevOps environments, how you’ve collaborated with engineers and analysts, and how you handled dependencies across teams to keep delivery on track.
Ask a thoughtful question about the role’s fixed-term nature and extension possibilities, and about the automation stack the team currently uses to assess how you’d fit into their tech landscape.
