The Opportunity

We’re looking for motivated and safety-conscious Machine Operators to join our team at Luggate Quarry on a casual basis. This role offers a great mix of hands-on machine operation, plant maintenance, and teamwork in a supportive environment. You’ll be working across various parts of the quarry, helping to extract and process materials, operate heavy machinery, and ensure everything runs smoothly and safely.

You’ll be part of a close-knit crew that values hard work, communication, and continuous improvement. With opportunities to upskill and take on new challenges, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their day and takes pride in their work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating loaders, diggers, trucks, and other quarry machinery safely and efficiently

  • Extracting and processing materials from pits and stockpiles

  • Performing daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance on plant and equipment

  • Assisting with crushing and screening plant operations and maintenance

  • Monitoring plant servicing and reporting any issues to the Quarry Foreman

  • Participating in daily pre-starts, hazard IDs, and toolbox meetings

Once trained, you’ll be able to confidently operate the digger, loader, and crushing plant, contributing to both production and maintenance activities.

What You’ll Bring to the Table

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Experienced in crushing and screening operations

  • Highly competent in operating loaders and loading trucks

  • Safety-conscious with strong H&S discipline

  • Mechanically minded and confident with basic maintenance

  • A team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Adaptable to working with diverse crews and under pressure

  • Willing to work overtime when required

  • Professional and courteous in all interactions

Minimum Requirements:

  • Class 2 license with WTR endorsement preferred

  • Proven experience in quarry or similar heavy machinery environments
