Ember Korowai Takitini seeks a compassionate Registered Nurse to join Toro Mai a Ringa in Rotorua full‑time onsite. Toro Mai a Ringa is a unique and vital partnership between Ember Korowai Takitini and Lakes DHB, delivered under the Te Ara Tauwhirotanga model of care.

Located in the heart of Rotorua, this community-based residence provides intensive, wraparound support for people with complex mental health needs that go beyond the usual scope of residential services. 

Meaning "outstretched hands," Toro Mai a Ringa represents a place of welcome, safety, and opportunity. It is a space where tāngata whaiora from across the Lakes rohe are supported to rebuild their lives and take confident steps back into their community. With a focus on connection, dignity, and recovery, Toro Mai a Ringa extends not just a hand, but a pathway towards hope and healing.

About The Role | Nga Mahi

We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team. This is a hands-on, relationship-focused role where you will provide clinical expertise, coordinate care, and support whaiora to achieve their goals and regain independence.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver safe, person-centred, recovery-focused nursing care

  • Work collaboratively with support workers and clinical partners

  • Complete assessments, develop care plans, and monitor wellbeing

  • Provide medication management and clinical oversight

  • Coordinate (key work) a group of whaiora, including entry, reviews, meetings, planning, and exit

  • Support whaiora and whānau using trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches

You will have | Nga Pukenga
  • Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current APC

  • Full NZ Drivers Licence

  • NZ residency/citizenship or a valid work visa enabling you to work full-time

  • A client-centred, strengths-based, recovery-focused approach

  • Experience with nursing in mental health and/or addiction services settings

  • Knowledge of mental health rehabilitation approaches (e.g., cognitive remediation, psychosocial rehabilitation), experience working with co-occurring addictions and/or cognitive difficulties, and knowledge of Māori health approaches (preferred)

  • A passion for walking along side those in need, supporting on-going goals on the pathway to recovery.
