The Opportunity

Our Western Port Manufacturing facility is looking for a Reliability Improvement Leader in our Metal Coating Maintenance team based in Western Port. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products Portfolio, we have four major manufacturing sites at Western Port which operate 24 x 7 and deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to export and domestic customers.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this influential leadership role will see you lead a team of technical specialists focused on maximising asset reliability, process uptime, and operational performance across a complex 24/7 manufacturing environment.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineer, or an accomplished maintenance professional with strong reliability expertise to drive long-term asset improvement strategies, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and make a meaningful impact on safety, quality, and production outcomes.

What Will You Do?

As a key member of the maintenance leadership team, you will:

  • lead, coach, and develop a team of reliability specialists across multiple technical disciplines
  • develop and execute reliability improvement strategies that enhance equipment performance and plant availability
  • analyse equipment performance data and lead investigations into recurring failures and production losses.
  • drive defect elimination and continuous improvement initiatives to improve asset reliability and reduce operating costs
  • manage maintenance strategies and ensure compliance with reliability and maintenance standards
  • act as a key interface for capital projects, ensuring successful integration with plant operations
  • support the safe delivery of maintenance and improvement activities while minimising business risk

More About You

You are a strategic thinker who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and leading teams to deliver exceptional results. You bring strong stakeholder engagement skills, sound engineering judgement, and a passion for continuous improvement.

You will also have:

  • a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a Diploma of Engineering supported by significant maintenance leadership experience
  • demonstrated success in reliability, maintenance, or asset management within heavy industry, or similar environments
  • experience leading technical specialists and fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and continuous improvement
  • strong understanding of reliability methodologies, root cause analysis, defect elimination, and maintenance strategy development
  • the ability to influence stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and drive change across a complex operational environment
  • proven capability in plant maintenance practices including reliability analysis and continuous improvement
