WSP Middle East is seeking a motivated Resident Engineer with expertise in electrical engineering, specifically in the areas of GIS substations. 

 The ideal candidate will assist the Principal Resident Engineer in managing and coordinating the planning, design, construction, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems for transmission GIS substation projects from 132kV to 400kV level. This role requires strong technical skills, project management abilities, and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams. 

 

  • Assist the Principal Resident Engineer in overseeing all aspects of electrical systems for GIS substation from 132kV to 400kV level projects, from construction to commissioning stage. Experiences in GIS Switchgear, SS equipment installation, Control Protection, Telecommunication, Pre-commissioning Testing, LDC integration & Commissioning of plant.   
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets in alignment with client requirements and industry standards.  
  • Review and evaluate engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents related to the substation.  
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to procure equipment, materials, and services necessary for project execution.  
  • Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety regulations.  
  • Conduct site inspections and quality assurance checks to verify the integrity and performance of electrical installations.  
  • Address technical issues and resolve challenges encountered during the construction and operation phases of projects.  
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project team members, subcontractors, and clients as needed.  
  • Prepare comprehensive progress reports, documentation, and as-built drawings for client review and approval.  
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to electrical engineering, and substations. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.  
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.  
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on Substations from 132kV to 400kV level projects.  
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, electrical design software, and other relevant engineering tools.  
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and components used in substations.  
  • Experience with power distribution, protection schemes, and relay coordination for both substations.  
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations governing substation and construction (e.g., NEC, IEEE, NESC, IEC).
