Agnico Eagle Mines, a long-standing Canadian gold producer with operations around the world, is looking for a Resource Geologist to join the Geology Department at the Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. The company values trust, respect, equity, family and responsibility, and it emphasises safe operations and environmental stewardship as core to its culture. This onsite, full-time role offers a path for someone who wants to contribute to robust mineral resource planning within a respected mining company.

The Resource Geologist will report to the Senior Resource Geologist and become a key member of the Macassa team. You’ll translate field data into workable 3D models of lithology, mineralization and structure, and you’ll help build geological models and mineral resource estimates in line with NI 43-101 standards. The job blends data work with collaboration across departments to keep resource plans aligned with safety, environmental guidelines and company objectives.

It’s a role well suited to a geologist who enjoys turning complex data into actionable plans, working with partners and internal stakeholders, and staying precise about QA/QC and regulatory requirements. The Macassa Mine community and the broader Agnico Eagle network value experienced professionals who bring practical, safety-minded approaches to every model and calculation.

Ground truth at Macassa

You will interpret geological information to create 3D representations of rock types, mineralization, and structural features, turning raw data into reliable interpretations that support day-to-day decisions and long-term planning. You’ll collaborate with technicians, engineers and other geologists to develop a global mineral resource estimate that adheres to NI 43-101 standards and follows best-practice guidelines. Data quality will be a constant focus as you apply QA/QC standards to ensure every dataset you rely on is fit for purpose.

As models are refined, you’ll update short‑term resource representations in coordination with the Geology and Engineering teams, ensuring alignment with broader mine planning and production objectives. You’ll work with the Engineering Department to generate mineral reserves and resources, aiming to maximize geological outcomes while staying compliant with statutory requirements and safety, health and environmental procedures. Quarterly reconciliations will be part of your routine to maintain accuracy of the models, and you’ll contribute to long‑term resource growth strategies by partnering with multiple teams across the operation.

What you need to bring

  • Post-secondary education in Geology
  • P.Geo, or eligibility to register
  • Strong knowledge of structural and production geology
  • Three to five years of experience in gold mining, underground working conditions
  • Proficiency with geological software such as Datamine, Leapfrog, Fusion, DH Logger and AutoCAD
  • Excellent command of the Microsoft Office suite, especially Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Nice-to-have familiarity with NI 43-101 standards and global mineral resource estimation
  • Experience collaborating with engineering teams to generate mineral reserves and resources
  • Experience contributing to long-term resource growth strategies while upholding safety and environmental standards

Guidance for applicants

Lead with your geology credentials: place your post-secondary degree and P.Geo status or eligibility at the top of your resume, and show any relevant underground gold experience prominently so it’s easy to see you meet the core requirement.

Prove you meet the must-haves by citing concrete examples: describe projects where you interpreted data to build 3D models, your role in QA/QC processes, and your experience using Datamine, Leapfrog, Fusion, DH Logger and AutoCAD, plus how you contributed to short-term resource models and quarterly reconciliations.

Be ready for interviews by detailing how you’ve collaborated with engineering and geology teams to generate mineral reserves and resources, and how you’ve navigated NI 43-101 guidelines in practical scenarios. Have a short case ready that shows your approach to updating resource models and aligning with safety and environmental standards.

Ask a targeted question to show you’ve thought about the role’s long-term impact: how does the team balance long-term mineral resource growth with statutory requirements and safety, and what role would you play in shaping strategies that connect resource models to production plans?
